All images on the Royal BC Museum Corporation website require written permission from the Royal BC Museum Corporation before they can be copied and used for any other purpose.

Q: Can I take photos in the museum?

Photography and filming, including videotaping, is permitted in most of the exhibit galleries with the following general restrictions:

  • the use of a tripod is not allowed when the Museum is open to the public.
  • commercial and promotional filming is allowed only with permission of the Marketing department, and must be requested well in advance.

In the First Peoples Gallery, the following specific restrictions apply:

  • videotaping and audio tape recording are not permitted to the general public.
  • photography is not permitted to the general public.
  • no photography of the Jonathan Hunt House, either its exterior or interior.
  • no photography of the Cave of the Animals exhibit.
  • commercial and promotional filming is allowed only with prior permission and written approval from the Manager, Ethnology/Anthropology, and will then be arranged through the Marketing department. The appropriate Curator or Manager must be present during filming.

Q: Is there a place to store my coat and bag?

All oversized bags must be left at the Coat Check. In order to check an item by donation, you will show your "same day" museum ticket. For all additional items (umbrellas, coats, etc.) there is a minimal charge.

Q: Do you have wheelchairs?

Transport-style wheelchairs can be signed out from the Coat Check. There is no charge.

Q: Are strollers available?

Strollers for children can be signed out from the Coat Check. There is no charge. These strollers are not designed for babies less than one year old.

Q: Why don't the pictures on the website print out?

You may need to check your browser settings to make sure that you have background and image printing enabled.

  • Internet Explorer: Go to Tools > Internet Options then click on the Advanced Tab and scroll down to the printing section and check the box beside the Print background colors and images option.
  • Netscape: Go to File > Page Setup and check the box next to Print Background (colors & images).
  • Firefox: Go to File > Page Setup and check the box next to Print Background (colors & images).
* Please note that in an effort to help save printer ink, the site template and navigation are designed not to print.
